A Small Reminder at Work
This morning at work, one of my coworkers smiled and said, “Hey, it’s Pocky Day today! (ポッキーの日 (Pocky no Hi) desu )”
It was already November 11, the day when the numbers 11/11 look just like four Pocky sticks. That little reminder instantly made me crave it, so on my way home, I stopped by the convenience store and grabbed my favorite flavor — Almond Crush.

What Is Pocky Day?
Pocky Day, or ポッキーの日 (Pocky no Hi), began in 1999 as a marketing idea by Glico, the company that makes the iconic chocolate-covered biscuit sticks. Over time, it turned into a cheerful event celebrated across Japan every November 11.
People give Pocky to coworkers, friends, or loved ones, post cute photos online, or join playful “Pocky games.” You’ll even see hashtags like #ポッキーの日 or #PockyDay trending each year.
Sharing Sweetness and Smiles
What I love most about this day is its simplicity.
Some call it a “Lovers’ Day (恋人の日)”, while others just see it as a reason to share happiness. Even a single stick of Pocky can make someone smile.
My Favorite Flavor: Almond Crush
When I opened the box, the scent of roasted almonds and chocolate felt comforting after a long day. It brought back a wave of nostalgia.
I used to always choose the classic chocolate flavor, but now I love exploring matcha, strawberry, or limited seasonal flavors. Japan truly has a Pocky for every season and every mood!

Look for Special Pocky Displays
If you’re in Japan around November, check the supermarket or convenience store shelves. You might find exclusive designs, double-Pocky packs for couples, or regional flavors you’ve never seen before.
Celebrating Pocky Day doesn’t need to be complicated.
Share a box with friends, take a fun photo, or simply enjoy that satisfying crunch.
Happy Pocky Day!
